Iconic Penthouse

2022

Our clients sought retirement in a vibrant, practical home, acquiring a penthouse in a historic 1960s building in disrepair. The brief emphasized mid-century detailing to honour its heritage, but the existing layout was unsuitable for modern living.

The new space maximizes storage and usability while adhering to strict utility placement constraints from the existing apartment services. Cork flooring and birch plywood joinery extend through the kitchen and living areas, evoking a cohesive mid-century vibe. The tall joinery doubles as versatile storage for cloaks and utilities, blending form with function. Colour was used extensively, resulting in a bright, quirky space that reflects the clients' personalities.
